The Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano confirmed its leading role at Prowein Düsseldorf, where it returned as a protagonist with a collective stand and the direct participation of numerous companies. Among the most significant moments of the 2025 edition was the presentation of the first labels of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano ‘Pieve’, already introduced to the international press during the Anteprima del Vino Nobile.
The German fair proved to be an important opportunity to meet with international buyers and operators, thanks in part to the training activities promoted in collaboration with ICE, with the involvement of industry experts such as Filippo Bartolotta and Gabriele Gorelli MW, who accompanied delegations of buyers on a journey of discovery of the appellation and the latest vintages on the market, the Vino Nobile 2022 and the Riserva 2021.
In terms of markets, the United States and Canada are second only to Germany, which in 2024 confirmed its position as the leading destination for exports of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, accounting for 37% of exports. However, with 28% in the US and 5% in Canada, confirming a steady growth trend, North American consumers’ interest in the appellation is becoming increasingly pronounced.
The performance of organic Vino Nobile di Montepulciano was particularly significant, now accounting for 44.7% of sales on the Italian market and over 50% internationally, confirming the strong sustainable vocation of the appellation.
